Learn the science. Master the Art of Image Management

Be a multi-dimensional personality

‘Clothing affects how other people perceive us as well as how we think about ourselves,’ this notion has long been proven. But the deeper question that remains highly debatable is that, does your outfit influence how you approach and interact with the world?

Clothing choices are much more than we might imagine. For many people, what they wear is merely a matter of habit or because they are simply lazy to experiment, but we must be a little more careful in the choices we make. Doing something different with your clothes might be a way of changing the impression others have of you.

Many are quick to make change when it comes to latest electronics, cars and other trendy gadgets. But when it comes to addressing the fashion sense, something that defines them instantly, they don’t even give it a second thought. As a result, many stay stuck in a stale style of fashion that is, at best, ineffective and unproductive.

To put it more relatively, the word ‘style’ speaks to more than just everyday fashion. It also refers to our style of approach to life whether we are learning, growing and getting better or just standing still.  The wonderful thing about style is you get to choose your own style and if one style doesn’t work, you can choose another.  Unfortunately, most people either don’t know they can choose or don’t know how to make a new choice. As such, they stay stuck in a style that has long gone stale.

The first step to unshackle yourself from being single dimensional in fashion terms, is choosing what’s right for you. You really need to know what you are wearing. Do not wear something just because everyone else is wearing the same. Do find out whether the dress would look good on you or not? One needs to be extremely careful of his/her body type, built, weight, complexion, nature of work, climate while selecting clothes.

Few suggestions to move from being a Single Dimensional to a multi-Dimensional Personality:

  • It’s all about focussing on your best assets and camouflaging the ones you aren’t confident about.
  • Pay attention to recurring themes and patters in your wardrobe. Try and avoid these and shop for something completely different next time you go shopping.
  • Add some colour into your style. Have a majority of pastel shades in your wardrobe? Opt for bright shades next time. Is black your favourite colour? Try monochrome instead.
  • Choose clothes that stand out rather than blend in

Dress according to the occasion. One needs to look good for an impressive personality. Clothes reflect who you are, how you feel at the moment and sometimes even what you want to achieve in life? Always remember whatever you wear should reflect the real you. Your dressing sense reflects your personality, character, mood, style and what actually you are as an individual.
